How can I get the best from my remote workers

Q - How can I get the best from my remote workers when I get so little time with them?

A - Remote working used to be a rarity, but nowadays it is the norm.  So managers need to adapt to the current situation.  The ones that I have seen to be successful still manage to get the team together on a regular basis, by finding a suitable day each week that most people can get to an office/meeting place.  They also make great use of technology, using conference and video-conference facilities to keep the team engaged.  The key is to build trust that when you are not with your team that they are doing what they need to do.  That involves setting clear objectives and expectations, and keeping up to date informally as well as when you are together.  Of course everyone likes to be managed differently, but remote working shouldn’t mean working in complete isolation.
