Can we deliver training in modules?
Q - Can we deliver leadership training in modules? Surely managers will engage more if training is in small, say 20 minute, chunks?
A - Modular training can be very effective. My only warning would be that leadership development is best delivered as experiential training, and “modules” tend to last 2-3 days rather than 20 mins. This is because leadership is a complex topic, with many different aspects to it. Breaking up leadership into 20 minute modules is like giving someone a jigsaw puzzle without the big picture to understand how the pieces fit together. As with all development, a blended approach is likely to get the best results, with a mix of online and experiential training, follow up coaching and support groups (to share best practice).
