QHow can I deal with problems with my staff when we cannot meet?

AAlthough it is always preferable to deal with staff issues face to face, my next preference is video.  I hope it goes without saying that this is one-to-one rather than in groups!  You can still see and read body language and you can see how the other person is reacting to the feedback you are giving.  If video is not possible then I would still encourage you to deal with the issue by phone, rather than email, otherwise it might grow into a bigger issue.  Set clear goals and actions from the call and make sure you follow them up to ensure the problems get resolved.  Remoteness is no excuse for letting problems go.
