New company governance is constraining

Q - Having been acquired by a larger company, I am finding the new governance totally constraining, to the point I am wondering what my job is now.  How can I fix this?

A - Whenever acquisitions take place it is likely that there will be changes, particularly around governance.  The new company will take some time to find out how your company works and they will probably keep a close eye on things at first.  During this period I suggest you focus on what you can do, in order to get your job done, being pro-active with reporting requirements in order to ‘win back’ your autonomy (trust).  Push the boundaries a little and make decisions where you can.  If the problem persists then you will have to make a tough decision about whether it is time for a change.
